VPN Reminder

Library resources are accessed openly by Case wired computers or by using the Case Wireless network. If connecting in any other method, please install, turn on, and log into VPN.

At the bottom of the KSL homepage, a green light says you have full access.

Borrowing Policies



  • Regularly circulating materials from Case libraries: 21 days, up to 4 renewals of 21 days each
  • Videos & DVDs: 7 days, no renewal. Read more about videos & DVDs, where they are, and how to use the QuickList!
  • KSL Wireless iBook laptops at the Service Desk: 3 hours, no renewal
  • OhioLINK loans: 21 days plus up to 6 renewals of 21 days. (Recalls may prevent renewals)
  • OhioLINK media: 7 days, no renewal, unless otherwise noted on the item


Library Catalog

Use the Case library catalog to find books, journals, films, music etc  in either  print and electronic format. The Case catalog covers holdings in the following libraries

  • You can search by author, title, subject, key word and more.
  • All electronic resources listed in the catalog contain a web link to the resource.  REMEMBER TO HAVE THE VPN software installed on your computer and be logged in so that you can access the full text of these resources.  If you are not sure look for the red/green button on the KSL home page. Green tells you that you are connected to the network and red that you must log in to VPN.

Can't Find It Here? - Use OhioLINK

OhioLINK, is a consortium of 88 Ohio college and university libraries, and the State Library of Ohio, that work together to provide Ohio students, faculty and researchers with the information they need for teaching and research. Serving more than 600,000 students, faculty, and staff at 89 institutions, OhioLINK’s membership includes 16 public/research universities, 23 community/technical colleges, 49 private colleges and the State Library of Ohio.The

OhioLINK Catalog

OhioLINK offers access to more than 48 million library items statewide, encompassing a spectrum of library material including law, medical and special collections. The OhioLINK Library Catalog contains 11.5 million unique titles from its 89 member libraries, two public libraries and the Center for Research Libraries. Students, faculty, staff, and card holders from participating public libraries can use the OhioLINK Library Catalog to find and request materials online, then pick them up two to three days later at the participating library of their choice. Users can renew books online and keep them for up to 15 weeks.


Books and some journals are available in print format.

Books are shelved by the Library of Congress call number system.

Look for the call number ( a combination of letters and numbers) on the spine of the book. 

Once you know the call number you can go to the correct place on the shelf and find the book.

Example :  Catalog record for a book owned by Kelvin Smith Library:

Miller, David, 1964-
A century of spin : how public relations became the cutting edge of corporate power / David Miller and William Dinan
 Kelvin Smith Stacks  HM1221.M55 2008  CHECK SHELVES

Journal volumes do not have call numbers. They are shelved alphabetically by the title of the journal.

For example: Journal of Marketing Studies will be shelved in the J's
