Introduction

CWRU is part of a state wide consortium of educational institutions called OhioLINK. All of these institutions have agreed to lend books to each other via a central catalog. Knowing how to use OhioLINK will make your life as a student easier and your learning experience richer. This short tutorial shows you the first steps in becoming a proficient OhioLINK user.

Basic Searching Technique

Step 1: You have a need. Your SAGES professor mentioned the book The Singing Neanderthals by Steven Mithen. This book discusses the possibility that early men and women may have had the ability to sing before the ability to speak. You decide this might be useful for your SAGES paper How Old is Rock n Roll?

Step 2: Go to the library catalog (catalog.case.edu) and search on the title:

Step 3: Find the item in catalog and see where it is located and if it is available.

Step 4: Oh no! Someone has checked it out. Not to worry. Click on the OhioLINK button to find it on OhioLINK.

Step 5a: Request the item via OhioLINK.

Step 5b: Find CWRU on the drop down menu for home institution:

Step 5c: Fill in your ID and password (the same you use for all network stuff) AND choose a pickup location on campus.

Step 6: The book will arrive on campus in about 4-5 days. You will receive email. Pick it up at KSL.

Final Tip!

OhioLINK items circulate for 21 days and you get up to 6 renewals (barring holds or recalls). Learn how to access your online library account and you can renew without having to come into the library: KSL 2 Min. Tutorial: Library Account.

Freshmen and women, if you have additional questions about OhioLINK, ask your Personal Librarian.
