Kelvin Smith Library celebrates scholarship at Case Western Reserve University by recognizing faculty authors in the Case School of Engineering, College of Arts and Sciences, and the Weatherhead School of Management who have written or edited books.
Characterization, Modeling, and Performance of Geomaterials contains 27 peer-reviewed papers presented at the GeoHunan International Conference, Challenges and Recent Advances in Pavement Technologies and Transportation Geotechnics, which took place in Changsha, Hunan, China from August 3 to 6, 2009. This Geotechnical Special Publication showcases recent developments and advancements in geotechnical and pavement engineering, and offers insights into future directions for geoengineering in the 21st century. The topics covered in this proceedings examine innovations in design and construction techniques for professionals in pavement, geotechnical, geoenvironmental, and geomechanical disciplines, and include: Advances in Unsaturated Soil, Seepage, and Environmental Geotechnics Geosynthetics Geo-environmental Engineering NDT Testing of Infrastructure Materials Bridge Approach Embankment This publication will be valuable to professors of geotechnical engineering, students, design engineers, contractors, and others involved in geotechnical and pavement engineering.
Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering (GSP 201) contains 43 papers which examine a variety of topics in soil dynamics and earthquake engineering. This Geotechnical Special Publication is divided into three groups: the dynamic soil-structural interactions under seismic loads, the dynamic properties of soils and rocks, and seismic zoning and earthquake hazard assessment. These papers cover important issues such as the dynamic responses of earth dams, pile and pile groups, soil nailing, tunnel, landfills and shallow foundations. The papers in this publication were presented during the GeoShanghai 2010 International Conference held in Shanghai, China, June 3-5, 2010.
