Kelvin Smith Library
Step 1 - Launch the "Premiere Pro" program and Click New Project to begin.
Step 2 - Make sure to name your project and assign for it a location by clicking Browse > select a folder. Leave the rest of the settings in the box untouched and press OK.
Step 3 - In the lower left corner, import the media which you want to transcribe. Remember, this process is only for videos that have already been made. Next, drag the video back into that corner to make it part of your project.
Step 4 - In order to make a timeline of the media, drag the video clip from the lower left onto the timeline located at the lower right, creating a new sequence which automatically matches the video clip.
Step 5 - Open the Windows Tab > Text. Under Text, activate the Captions Tab and click "transcribe sequence".
Step 6 - Once the box pops up, select 'Audio on track' and choose English as its language, then click Transcribe to save and exit the box. This will allow the program to render the audio into a portable file and send that to the Cloud, where it will be transcribed and sent back with time codes.
Step 7 - To create a Captions File, click Create Captions, located above the sequence transcript. Leave everything as default and press Create.
Step 8 - Click on the three dots above the transcript and select Export to SRT file, then press Save.
Step 9 - Make sure to double check the captions in case there are any errors. If there are, go over to the left, where the captions are playing line by line, and edit along the way.
