Can I move the screens in the Commons?
Yes. Just ensure that it does not stop safe and easy movement within the space for other people or yourself.
Can I undo the ties on cables so it reaches far enough for me to use it?
Yes. In general, the power cables and ethernet should remain coiled and tied. You can undo the HDMI ties to extend the cable out to a table so you can use it. If you undo any ties, please redo them to keep the carts clean and functional for the next patron.
I can't get the screens to work. How do I get help?
Report the problem to Freedman Center staff using this form.
I don't have an HDMI port on by device. Can I borrow a dongle?
We don't provide adapters and dongles. You can bring your own cable or adapter if HDMI does not work for your device. CWRU affiliates can also check out a laptop from the kiosk on the first floor of KSL.
Can I use the screens with my group or for a project where I need to see what I'm doing?
Yes! The screens make it easier for groups to collaborate, and you can also use them if you need a bigger screen than your laptop or tablet can provide. If you need a more private space to work, also consider booking a collaboration room.
Can I use the screens to watch a film?
We request that you avoid doing any activities that would be distracting for patrons who are trying to study and focus. We have viewing stations outside of the glass of the Freedman Center that are set up for viewing films.
Can I use the screens for gaming or other personal activities?
We request that you avoid doing any activities that would be distracting for patrons who are trying to study and focus. For those reasons, gaming would be better in personal spaces (except when KSL hosts game nights!).
