KSL's current loanable technology collection are found at the Tech Table, directly to the right of the Service Center. Staff will retrieve your desired kit if available and check it out at the Service Center with an appropriate CWRU or CIM ID.
Available for checkout to CWRU & CIM students, faculty, and staff at the Service Center. CWRU Alumni, CIA, Public or Visiting patrons are not permitted to check out loanable equipment kits.
Please treat the kit as if it were your own. Let us know if you have lost or damaged the equipment. You're only financially responsible for the loss or damages, not the entire kit. Be aware of the below:
Boogie Board
→ DON'T press down hard on board's screen.
***Whether writing or erasing, not a lot of pressure is required.
→ Do NOT bend the Background Sheet.
→ Carefully slide Background Sheet into the grooves.
Stylus
→ Please be mindful when using; only light pressure is required for writing or erasing.
→ Replace the stylus back to its 'Home' position on the board.
***They are small and easily lost.
Ensuring Board Operates
We recommend testing the board immediately upon checking-out so you know it works. To properly erase the screen, the battery needs to be active.
To Test:
1. Make sure the board is turned on.
2. Write your name on the Boogie Board's screen with the stylus.
3. Press the middle circle button. Your writing should disappear.
→ If it doesn't, bring back up to the Service Desk and request a new battery.
Only available with the Blackboard Smart Scan Boogie Board and Stylus.
1. To use the stylus eraser, the Boogie Board must be on. Hold the left-most button on the top of the board indicated below and begin to erase.
***Do NOT apply heavy pressure.
2. The eraser isn't great; to completely erase your writing will take patience and time. Even then, the eraser will leave behind a fuzzy afterimage.
Boogie Board Cellphone Software: BlackBoard Software
Available on both styles of Boogie Board. Your lists, notes, or doodles will be available to share as a PDF or image to cloud storage such as Dropbox or Google Drive.
1. Once you are ready to scan your notes, open the Blackboard App and click the camera icon.
2. Change the scan size to the size of the Boogie Board you were using.
3. Adjust the Green Scanning window to fit your notes. Reset the frame if needed.
4. Hit the arrow button when satisfied. The following screen will appear showing your selection:
5. Complete the below information. Save when complete.
Think how you'd like to have received the Boogie Board; notes removed, a functioning battery, and the battery off. You are passing on the equipment to the next hands. Be courteous.
Clearing the Screen
Transfer your notes to the Blackboard app if you haven't already done so. While the board is on, press the middle circle button to remove all notes.

Turning Battery Off
Along the top or side of the board is a switch. Depending on your model, slide to the right or slide up to shut off.
