Artistic Merit

Excellent composition & use of artistic techniques, imaginative, captures viewers’ attention and interest, inspire curiosity

Pleasing composition, uses some artistic techniques, contains some imaginative elements, eye-catching, capture viewers’ attention

Good composition, minimal use of artistic techniques, contains minimal imaginative elements,  somewhat visual appealing

Artistic techniques missing, contains no imaginative elements,  not visually pleasing

Title Creativity

Super creative, effective, imaginative, inspire curiosity

Creative, effective, capture readers’ attention

Partially creative, meaning is more difficult to understand

Basic title, may or may not be easy to understand, not in

Caption Eloquence

Clear description of the image, uses no or limited technical terms, excellent written text, easy to understand, strong connection with the title, meets the 200 words requirement

Good description of the image, uses some technical terms, good written text, relatively easy to understand, good connection with the title, meets or is close to the 200 words requirement

Contains some description of the image, uses many technical terms, some effort is required to understand the text , poor connection with the title, does not meet the 200 words requirement

Uses scientific language, text difficult to understand for non-specialists, does not meet the 200 words requirement
