*Regarding July 7 migration from Classic to New Web of Science*
For most customers, before the July 7, 2021 migration of accounts to the New version, most usage was on Classic. Note that New Web of Science was available before July 7, but it was not the default destination (users had to click a "preview" button to access the New version). After July 7 the New version is the default destination, and users can still return to the Classic version via the Products menu at the top of the New Web of Science pages. For COUNTER metrics, Searches_Regular, Searches_Federated, and Total_Item_Investigations are a sum of activity from both Classic and New versions of the platform.
Regarding Unique Item Investigation counts:
1) We started collecting usage data in a way that allows for the Unique Item Investigation counts in April 2021; before that month, all Unique Item Investigation counts will be zero.
2) We can provide the Unique Item Investigation counts only for New Web of Science (not Classic). For most customers, before the July 7 2021 migration of customers to the New version, most usage was on Classic – so the Unique Item Investigations counts will likely be very low for April, May, and June.
3) When July data comes out, the Unique Item Investigations counts will likely increase, but this is still a partial count because the first week of July the Classic version was the default. Only the last 3 weeks of July, when the New version of WoS was the default, will we have counted Unique Item Investigation.
4) The first full month of accessing New WoS will be August, and that usage data (when it comes out in September) will show Unique counts that are very accurate.
5) When we sunset Classic later this year, then only New WoS usage will be reported, and the Unique counts will be 100% accurate.
