Computers are available in large groupings on the 1st and 2nd floor. There are stand-up stations as well as seated stations.
Several computers on the 1st floor are designated for Guests – please use the other computers and logon with your Case network ID/password.
The 3rd floor has several stand-up stations, good for looking up book titles. All 2nd & 3rd floor computers require the Case network ID/password login.
A photocopier are on the 1st floor between the flat-bed scanners and wēpa print stations. Use your Case ID card to pay for the copies at 15 cents/page, or use coins, $1, or $5 bills.
wēpa printers are available on the 1st floor at KSL and print from the computers on each floor.
Logon to a computer with your network ID & all your print jobs go the printer queue. Finish your work, go to the printer & slide in your Case ID card. Leave it in the printer while you identify your print job from the display window. You can print or delete your document jobs. Use your ID card to debit your CaseCash account. Wēpa cards of $5 face are sold from a wēpa machine at the entrance of KSL. You can check your wēpa account balance online. The printers do not take cash.
When you need a document, paper, or chapter but you don't want to make & keep paper copies, use the KIC Scanning Station on the first floor or scanners in the Freedman Center to scan them! It's fast, free, easy, and it saves paper!
• Bring a USB or flash drive
• Insert your drive.
• Place your book, journal, paper, etc. on the flat surface.
• Press the scan icon on the screen and follow the directions to finish your document.
When you need to use software, often the Case UTech Software Center has what you need.
An an enrolled student you can download software for AntiVirus, Adobe products, Microsoft Office, Oracle, math application software & more.
Most of the choices are free, and have an educational discount if a fee is required (ex: EndNote). Site-licenses require your Case network ID/password to download.
Software is available for Windows, Apple, and Linux.
New to CWRU? UTech help you find the services, training and assistance you need to get started, including questions about passwords, and CWRU network IDs. You'll find help on changing your password, getting a new card, or other topics that students ask frequently. If you have a software or hardware problem, the UTech Help Desk takes online questions and will answer you. You can call, email, or chat with them, or walk into a UTech CARE center. There is a UTech CARE center in the lower level of KSL. The UTech Help Desk page also lists emergency network issues that you might like to know about.
Sometimes when you download a product from the UTech Software Center, you can see a link to e-reference in the Safari Books Online. You can read the e-references without downloading the product.
You can find e-book manuals for Microsoft applications & other software applications from the Safari e-book collection. Use Safari for e-books about publishing, applications, hardware, software, graphics, IT, multimedia, and much more.
The OhioLINK libraries collectively share a license to 100 simultaneous users of Safari Books Online. If you get an error message or can’t open Safari Books Online, it means that all 100 licenses are in use. Please try the title in a few minutes, when a license may be available. When you have finished using your Safari e-book, remember to log out, which will free up your seat for the next waiting user. If you accidentally close the Safari window without logging out first, your session stays open and is unavailable to others for another twenty minutes.
To close your Safari Books Online session: Look for the OhioLINK tab in the blue bar at the top of the Safari page. It is next to the Help tab. Click on OhioLINK and then click on Sign Out.
